HOME International Activities IEOP IEOP 2024
The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea successfully hosted the International Election Observation Program (IEOP) for the 22nd National Assembly Elections from 4-12 April 2024, with the participation of 54 international election observers from 19 election management bodies (EMBs) and four international organizations around the world.
As it was the first offline IEOP in 6 years, the NEC of the Republic of Korea has made efforts to provide participants with valuable time to observe the early voting and voting and counting procedures, study the roles and functions of each institution through visits to the NEC of the Republic of Korea, Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy (KOCEI), and the Constitutional Court, and explore ways for the development of democracy by attending the Seoul International Forum on Elections (SIFE).
Making the first offline IEOP since the 7th Simultaneous Nationwide Local Elections, this year's IEOP program stressed the observation of early voting and voting/counting procedures. Moreover, in order to expand the exchange of knowledge and experiences among EMBs and international organizations, the program was held in conjuction with the Seoul International Forum on Elections (SIFE). The SIFE event was conducted in a successful manner, thanks to the active participation of presenters and audience, who joined the IEOP.
